#7029/6304 — 12" X 3.5" Pocket watch holder reminiscent of a very few rare examples of such pieces crafted by 19th-century whalemen. The bezel and the two finials are crenelated bone and the inlay is subtle in the nicely finished wood of the piece. (Pocket watch is not included.) Please visit the Sources page for other examples of this form.
#0183 — 9.5" X 5" X 9" Sailors at sea were known to have created small play objects for their children such as this miniature bureau. The ornate inlay pattern was not uncommon. This piece boasts MOP dots and diamonds with bone drawer pulls and feet. The top is inlaid with a six-petal flower. Fine finish to this 19th-century antique piece.
